Once you are experiencing the symptoms related to impacted wisdom teeth, the damage has already begun. The longer you wait into adulthood, the more difficult the extraction can be and the more damage can be done.
Not all wisdom teeth pierce through the gums. They can be impacted even if you don’t feel them there. Some do come in straight and do not present as much of a problem. Some grow in crooked.
There’s only one way to know for sure. Visit a dentist with a routine dental X-ray. It will show whether your wisdom teeth are causing problems.
Removing them as early as possible. As a young person, the roots have not had as much time to fully form, making extraction much easier and causing fewer potential complications from oral surgery. The longer you wait, the more difficult the extraction will be, while the effect of impacted wisdom teeth will be felt even greater.
Wisdom tooth is performed under local anaesthesia or general anaesthesia. Local anaesthesia aims to numb and causes absence of pain sensation at a particular area. General anaesthesia is a medically induced anaesthetic condition that makes a person goes into an unconscious state and loses their protective reflexes.
Some patient will experience some swelling and inflammation and it takes about 1-2 days to subside. After surgery care is important to keep the area clean to prevent infection. Our oral surgeon will remove the stitches after 7 days. There is no restriction in diet and lifestyle after wisdom tooth extraction.
